What better time to start a new podcasting journey than the New Year? And what better way to start it than by delving into this year’s winners of the Canadian Podcast Awards?

That got us wondering: anecdotally, it’s obvious that there are more male-hosted political podcasts than there are women and non-binary-hosted shows. With that in mind, here are political podcasts hosted by women — podcasts that provide a different, fresh perspective on politics.

It’s impossible to escape the fact that we’re coming up on another election, but it’s totally possible to escape into stories about elections of the past—where the mudslinging was just as bad but there was no cable news and a lot more canes.

There’s no other long-form medium as portable, personal, and powerful as podcasts. And it goes both ways. I’ve learned as much from listeners as they’ve hopefully learned from me, and that’s a magic I don’t take for granted.
