Podcasts Hosted by Couples in Time for Valentine's Day

By: Carolyn Crow (she/her), co-host of Sundae Funday

In 2023, after 22 years together and 13 years married, my husband and I finally reached the next level of intimacy: we started a podcast together.

As two creative people who had never done anything creative together, it felt like a perfect way to get to know each other in a new way. We are approaching our one year anniversary as podcast co-hosts, and with Valentine’s Day recently passing, we’re especially enjoying other podcasts hosted by couples. Here are a few of my favorites right now; these couples go deep, have fun, and put out some pretty compelling content.

Couples Therapy

“Moshe Kasher and Natasha Leggaro”

Couples Therapy is an advice show hosted by married comedians Naomi Ekperigin and Andy Beckerman. It's hilarious and heartfelt! Check out episode 246 with another comedian couple, Moshe Kasher and Natasha Leggero.

Love After Lullabies

“Parenting Prowess: Expert tips on Parenting and Relationships with Emily + David”

Love After Lullabies is hosted by longtime couple Miranda and Erin. They talk about how love changes after kids come along. The episodes are intimate, vulnerable, and relatable. This episode gets to the crux of the podcast with parenting tips from their guest couple, a conscious parenting coach, and her husband.

Sundae Funday

“6 Ben & Jerry's Pistachio Pistachio”

On Sundae Funday, a pastry chef (that’s me!) and her hungry husband rate and review a different ice cream in every episode, and in this one, they are also joined by a food scientist! Carolyn and husband Marcello celebrate a wedding anniversary before getting into Ben & Jerry's Pistachio Pistachio ice cream pros and cons.

Black Love Matters

“My God, the Dead has Arisen”

Black Love Matters doesn't have regular uploads very often anymore, but it's always nice to get an occasional update from hosts Niram and Nirambi. Their most recent episode from December 2023, "My God, the Dead Has Arisen," quickly covers some work-life changes before a deep dive into a devastating personal loss. This bittersweet remembrance should be approached with caution (trigger warning for loss of a pregnancy/child).

We Can Do Hard Things

”Glennon Shares Her Love Letter with Liz Gilbert”

We Can Do Hard Things is a hosted by author Glennon Doyle, her wife Abby Wombach, and her sister Amanda Doyle. This trio is intimate in a way that only spouses and siblings can be. As guest Elizabeth Gilbert says on this episode, it's a "pyramid scheme of love."

How Did This Get Made?

“Matinee Monday: Monkey Shines”

Finally, How Did This Get Made? is hosted by married actors June Diane Raphael and Paul Scheer, and their friend Jason Mantzoukas. This hilarious movie review show is the first podcast that Marcello and I both loved, and June and Paul are probably our dearest parasocial friends. This episode is the first time the three hosts sat down without a guest, and it really highlights their great chemistry — it also happens to focus on the movie Marcello and I watched on our first date!

And that’s what we’ve got for our fun facts of 2023 in podcasts! Major thank you to everyone who submitted a response. If you’d like to be featured next year, get in touch with us by subscribing to the EarBuds newsletter.
