6 Podcast Episodes for Facing and Overcoming Evil

By: Yvette Gentile and Rasha Pecoraro

Sisters Yvette Gentile and Rasha Pecoraro are the co-hosts of the podcast Root of Evil: The True Story of the Hodel Family and the Black Dahlia, a 2020 iHeartRadio ‘True Crime Podcast of the Year’ nominee.

Gentile and Pecoraro return to the airwaves with a new weekly podcast from Tenderfoot TV and iHeart Radio called Facing Evil. In their latest venture, the siblings bring their unique perspective of growing up in a family with a dark history, to true crime with a focus on the victims and individuals at the heart of the stories.

If we can make a difference and teach others how we can be better human beings by doing good in the world, we will have achieved everything our mother stood for. Our goal for this show is to find a light in the darkness and to bring awareness to those stories that are as deserving of the attention that our family has received. By shining light on these other stories of evil, we strive to foster healing.

With all of the work that we do on Facing Evil, we want to share with listeners how you can overcome and heal from any evil in your lives, and that you can always bring the light to the darkness. Here are six podcast episodes that do just that.

Facing Evil

“Harry and Harriette Moore”

This episode of Facing Evil is all about finding the light in the darkness. After the horrific murder of the Moores in 1951, their legacy lives on through the Harry T. and Harriette V. Moore Cultural Center in Florida. The center sits on the very land where The Moores were killed, and it shines a light on the civil rights work they were doing at the time.

We Can Do Hard Things with Glennon Doyle

“Tracee Ellis Ross: How to Make Peace in Your Own Head”

Tracee has always inspired us by being her most authentic self.

On Purpose with Jay Shetty

“Justin Baldoni: ON The Power of Reflection for Healing Lifelong Relationships”

Justin has so much to offer in terms of healing and toxic masculinity.

The Ten News: News for Curious Children

“Making Her-story with Guest Stella Keating”

The Ten News isn’t only a show for kids, but it helps break down pop culture and news in ways that everyone can understand. This episode is a powerful one that discusses the Equality Act and shines a light on the LGBTQ+ community.

Making Space with Hoda Kotb

“Viola Davis: I Want to Love Me”

Hoda talks to actor Viola Davis about overcoming trauma and learning to love herself no matter what.

Just Between Us

“The Ethics of True Crime with Yvette Gentile”

We picked this episode that Yvette was a guest on because Gabe and Allison shine a light on mental health and the ethics behind true crime. It’s a powerful episode. They also always end their episodes with laughter.
